I have decided to go back to where I last finished the Workbook. Initially, I had said that I wanted to start from the beginning again because I hadn’t “done” the Course in quite some time. However, after chatting with my friend, Mark, he said that it really doesn’t matter where I read in the Course, even if I have been away from it in a while. So, I went back to Lesson 158 today. I am still starting the Text from the beginning, however. It just feels like the right thing to do. Since it feels right, that is what I am going to do. His statement reminded us both of the scene from “Meatballs” with Bill Murray when they start chanting, “It just doesn’t matter! It just doesn’t matter! It just doesn’t matter!”

When I contemplate world troubles, I often think, “If only they could see things from my perspective, the world would be a better place.” Do you do that? I do it too much. Once I can change them to my way of thinking, voila! Better world!

Whooooo boy! That is some serious ego-thinking there.

I had begun to feel that my posts were taking on a “fake” feel to them of late – hence, the one week plus break from posting. Originally, I’d intended to post something everyday. But, when I had nights where I couldn’t think of something decent to write about, or what I wrote didn’t feel “postable,” I decided that I needed to bring it back to three or four posts a week. When I hit a mini depression, I knew that anything I posted that was positive, wouldn’t be coming from the real me. So, I did the only logical thing – I attended a Course In Miracles Study Group, finally. Read the rest of this entry »

What is more important to you? How do you rank the following based upon importance in your personal life?

You know those days when you just feel like, “There is something missing?” That’s what it has been feeling like to me for a few days. What I am coming to realize is that there is nothing missing. I have everything I need, right here, right now. If I think I have something missing, then it is just an act of ego. It is on days like these when we need to count our blessings. The following is an autobiography of my diving career. I use it to make my points about the different zones we face in our lives. Pay particular attention to when I mention comfort zone, challenge zone, and panic zone.

On my very first day of high school, I found myself in competitive swimming class for my very first class of the day. We met, for some odd reason, on the football stadium bleachers. I didn’t know why I was there. I wasn’t a particularly good swimmer, I had certainly never swam competitively before. Read the rest of this entry »

In Steps 1 through 3, you learned that you need to “take it slow and easy” – kind of the way I am posting these steps! You also need to “find a spiritual home” and “create time” to commence your spiritual journey. Now that you have made the time, it is time for the most crucial step in your spiritual journey. I bet you didn’t think it would come so early, huh? Read the rest of this entry »

In Step 1, you learned that you need to take it slow and easy in the beginning. If you try too hard, you will find yourself doing the equivalent of drowning in your spirituality. I kind of snuck step 2 into step one also – which is to find a spiritual home. Read the rest of this entry »

The first post that you will find in this blog is about restarting MY spiritual journey.  Now that I have done so, I thought I would write about some important things to consider when you are beginning your  own spiritual journey.  I will write a series of blog posts starting with this one. I don’t think I would get much gruff when I say that George Washington was arguably one of the most brilliant generals of all time. What is interesting to me is not the battles he won that made him so great, but his ability to back off when he faced overwhelming odds of being slaughtered. In a book I highly recommend, 1776, David McCullough masterfully accounts how the year of 1776 went for George Washington. The book left this reader astounded Read the rest of this entry »
