glasswaterStarting your spiritual journey?

Think of yourself like a glass of water where mud (your “stuff”) has settled to the bottom. Things seem to be relatively clear when you begin your journey, but then you begin to do the spiritual work. This is like pouring clear spring water into your glass. So what happens? Well, naturally the act of pouring water into your glass stirs up the mud that had once upon a time settled to the bottom because you had chosen not to, or were unable to, deal with it.

This is why things sometimes appear to get dark when you begin your spiritual work anew. You are stirring up “stuff” from your past which you hoped had disappeared, when in fact, it had just settled.

So you have two choices, you can stop pouring clear, spring water into your glass so that the mud settles back down, or…

…you can continue to pour that water into your glass.

You see, when you continue to pour that clear, spring water (or spiritual growth in the form of affirmations, meditation, practicing kindness, etc.), your glass will begin to “runneth over.” Your glass can only hold so much, right? So as you continue to pour the water in, what is going to happen? The water will begin to clear up because as you continue to pour, the dirt or mud will begin to run over the edge with some of that clean water. The more you pour, the clearer it will become, until everything becomes completely clear – in more ways than one.

If you continue to grow spiritually, you will feel cleansed. You will feel blessed. That is why spiritual growth is called a cleansing. What is more refreshing than a nice tall glass of cool clean spring water? Well, you can do the same thing to your own “glass.”

Choose to stop letting the mud settle to the bottom of your glass, pour in the spiritual growth until your glass runneth over and washes the mud right out.

Allow the brief moments of darkness, your muddy water will clear.

Namaste
